Project Background & Structural Challenges
Qingdao Best Steel Structure Co., Ltd. successfully accomplished the structural design detailing, high-precision fabrication, and delivery of 220kV steel tubular poles for China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC).
The project involves a critical grid connection line for a large-scale refining and chemical complex in Jiangsu. Given the dense infrastructure, crisscrossing pipelines, and limited corridor width within the industrial refinery zone, traditional lattice towers were impractical. Our tapered steel tubular poles were selected as the optimal solution to fulfill the strict space constraints while ensuring massive load-bearing capacity.
Engineering & Manufacturing Highlights
Space-Saving Monopole Design: Compared to wide-base lattice towers, our 220kV steel tubular poles feature a compact footprint and sleek aesthetic, drastically reducing Right-of-Way (ROW) acquisition costs and minimizing disturbance to the industrial park's existing utility lines.
High-Strength Premium Steel: To support heavy multi-circuit conductors and withstand regional coastal wind loads, the poles were fabricated using high-grade structural steel ( Q355B/Q420B).
Advanced Fabrication & Welding: Utilizing automated large-scale bending machines and submerged arc welding (SAW) technologies, all longitudinal seams achieved flawless penetration. Welding procedures fully comply with AWS D1.1 and GB 50205, backed by 100% Non-Destructive Testing (NDT/UT).
Superior Hot-Dip Galvanization: Operating under an industrial/coastal environment means high exposure to corrosive chemical vapors and humidity. All steel tubular structures underwent premium hot-dip galvanizing inside our state-of-the-art facility, meeting ISO 1461 standards to ensure a corrosion-free lifespan of over 50 years.
Flawless Flange Assembly: To ensure seamless field erection, we performed 100% pre-assembly quality inspections on the flange connections at our factory, guaranteeing perfect alignment and zero onsite modification.
