Project Background & Challenges
The 500kV Lao Cai – Vinh Yen Transmission Line is a critical backbone energy infrastructure project managed by Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), aimed at securing electricity supply and enhancing grid stability across northern Vietnam.
Given the 500kV Extra-High Voltage (EHV) requirements, the project demanded extremely high structural reliability, severe weather resistance, and strict dimensional tolerances for the towers. Qingdao Best Steel Structure Co., Ltd. successfully won the contract and delivered premium-quality steel tubular towers capable of withstanding heavy mechanical loads and complex geographical conditions along the line.
Technical Highlights & Manufacturing Standards
To comply with EVN’s stringent international bidding standards, our factory executed the project with military-grade precision:
Advanced Tubular Design: Compared to traditional angle steel, our steel tubular towers provide optimized aerodynamic wind resistance and a smaller footprint, significantly reducing the right-of-way (ROW) costs in densely vegetated or populated areas of Vietnam.
Premium Material Grade: Fabricated using high-strength structural steel conforming to international standards (JIS G3101, TCVN 1765-75or equivalent EN standards) to ensure structural integrity under maximum tensile and compressive stress.
Flawless Welding & NDT: All welding procedures were performed by AWS-certified welders (AWS D1.1). 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) were implemented on critical structural joints to eliminate any micro-defects.
Superior Anti-Corrosion: Considering Vietnam’s tropical, high-humidity, and corrosive climate, all steel components underwent advanced Hot-Dip Galvanization (complying with ISO 1461 / ASTM A123). This guarantees a maintenance-free lifespan of over 50 years.

100% Pre-Assembly Test: Prior to shipping, full-scale prototype/trial assembly was conducted at our Qingdao facility to ensure perfect alignment, zero-error bolt connection, and fast field installation by the overseas construction teams.
