Project Background & Urban Grid Challenges
Qingdao Best Steel Structure Co., Ltd. successfully manufactured and supplied premium 110kV steel tubular poles for the Lianzhu Substation 110kV Outgoing Line and supporting road project, managed by the globally renowned Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA).
As a critical urban grid upgrade and municipal road infrastructure project, the construction corridor was highly restricted by limited Right-of-Way (ROW), existing underground utilities, and heavy traffic along the supporting roads. Traditional wide-base lattice towers were entirely unfeasible. Our compact, tapered steel tubular poles were selected as the ideal solution to balance massive structural load requirements with strict space constraints.
Engineering & Technical Highlights
Space-Saving Monopole with Flange Connection: Designed specifically for urban road environments, these 110kV poles feature a minimal footprint. Unlike slip-joint poles, the high-precision flange connection method was engineered for this project. It ensures exceptional structural rigidity, minimizes pole deflection under heavy conductor tension, and dramatically accelerates on-site erection, reducing traffic disruption to a minimum.
High-Strength Premium Structural Steel: To guarantee maximum safety along public transportation routes, all poles were fabricated using top-grade structural steel (such as Q355B/Q420B, fully compliant with global standard equivalents like ASTM A572 or EN 10025).
Advanced Submerged Arc Welding (SAW): The longitudinal seams of the tubular sections were welded using advanced automated Submerged Arc Welding to ensure flawless deep penetration. All processes comply strictly with AWS D1.1 and GB 50205 standards, verified by 100% Non-Destructive Testing (NDT/UT).
Premium Hot-Dip Galvanization for Urban Longevity: To combat urban atmospheric pollution, vehicle exhaust, and high humidity along the road network, all steel structures underwent superior hot-dip galvanizing inside our automated facility. Complying with ISO 1461 / ASTM A123 standards, the heavy, uniform zinc coating ensures a rust-free, maintenance-free service life of over 50 years.
100% Factory Pre-Assembly & Flange Matching: Perfect flange alignment is critical for structural safety. Our factory conducted a 100% full-scale prototype pre-assembly for all poles. This rigorous process guaranteed flawless flange face flatness, perfect bolt-hole alignment, and precise match-marking before shipping.
